
Wat Saket is an interesting temple built during the reing of King Rama I and is the location for a festival each November that includes a climb to the top of the Golden Mount. The temple is located conveniently close to the Khao San Road area.
The temple is famous for its golden pagoda with a height of 77 metres on the top of the Golden Mount with a diameter of 500 metres.
The artificial hill was made out of mud and brick by King Rama III . Then King Rama IV started the construction of the Chedi at the summit. Later on King Rama V added more structure to complete the Golden Mountain.Steps to the top of Golden Mountain, visitors can have a stunning panoramic Rattanakosin Island.
